Dr.Qin Zhang is the Director of the Center for Precision and Automated Agricultural Systems, and a Professor of Agricultural Automation in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at Washington State University (WSU). His research interests are in the areas of agricultural automation, intelligent agricultural machinery, agricultural robotics, and precision agriculture. Before join the faculty at WSU, He was a Professor and working on developing agricultural mechanization and automation solutions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). Based on his research outcomes, he has authored two textbooks, six separate book chapters, edited two technical books and two conference proceedings, published more than 130 peer reviewed journal articles, presented over 200 papers at national and international professional conferences, and been awarded 10 U.S. patents. He is currently served in the Editor-in-Chief for Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, and Section III (Plant Production) Chair of CIGR (International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering). He has also been invited to give numerous seminars and short courses at 18 universities, 9 research institutes and 11 industry companies in the North America, Europe, and Asia; and invited to give keynote speeches at international technical conferences for 14 times.
